What Disciplines are possible in the space? 

The Space is one of the Studios at the Roundhouse.

There are lifting points for single point disciplines (eg. Silks / Straps / Hoop / Dance Trapeze / Etc.). 

The floor is suitable for Cyr Wheel. 

It is possible to rig a Chinese Pole. 

There is no facilities for Trampoline / Wall Running / Large Disciplines such as Wheel of Death. 

How Much Does it Cost?

The different workshops have different prices to reflect the size of the group and the specialised vs. generalised nature of the content. 

Workshop 1 - Act Creation Fundamentals - £45 per participant. 

Workshop 2 - Existing Act Development - £95 per participant. 

What is Lydia's Experience? 
 

Lydia has been working as a Circus Artist since 2012 and a Director since 2019. 

She trained at the National Centre for Circus Arts, specialising in Double Cloud and Chinese Pole, and did a MA in Theatre Directing at East 15. 

As an acrobat she has worked for Cirque du Soleil, Silver Lining, Cirque Bijou, Metta Theatre, Tangled Feet and Extraordinary Bodies. 

As Artistic Director of LEAP she has created FATcrobat, Measure Up, Relativity, To A Cumulus and A Circus Cabaret for Kids. 

She was Artistic Director for Cirque du Soleil's OVO, overseeing the recent Refresh and run at the Royal Albert Hall, and was Assistant Director for Alegria in a New Light. 

She has also worked as an Associate Director for Extraordinary Bodies, Tangled Feet, Acrobatic Arts, Metta Theatre, Silver Lining and The National Centre for Circus Arts. 

 

She specialises in emotive storytelling through Circus and blending physicality with character work. 
 

What should I bring?

Bring your equipment, any rigging you need to attach it to a lifting point, a notebook, a camera / camera phone, music that you like to work to, water bottle and comfortable clothes! AND YOUR CREATIVE SELF!

What age and or level of experience are the workshops suitable for?

The workshops will be suitable for adults aged 18+ 

We are working with our partners around the UK to provide Youth Circus and CAT Scheme workshops - reach out if you would like to find out more!

Level of experience for Workshop 1 : Enough experience to put together a short 3 - 6 min act. You do not need to have had professional training. 

Level of experience for Workshop 2 :  Since this is slightly more bespoke it would be beneficial to have some professional performing experience. If you are uncertain feel free to drop us a message and we can chat!
